A Thirty Five year male is in a serious but stable condition after been entrapped inside his cabin of his truck for more than two hours this evening on the N1 direction Johannesburg near the Ranfortein on ramp.

ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene just after 18h30 this evening to find an articulated truck that was carrying sun flower seeds had left the N1 and rolled down an 40m embankment into a field.

The driver was entrapped inside the badly damaged cabin, making it very difficult for paramedics to gain access and start treating the injured driver. Jaws Of Life and other specialised hydraulic equipment was used to free the man. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed while the patient was been extricated from the wreckage. Once the man was freed, he was stabilised further before been rush to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the vehicle may have had a mechanical problem, causing the driver to lose control, veer across the freeway and roll down the embankment. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident. Privacy and confidentiality notice.
