A man to be in his late twenty’s is in a serious condition after crashing into a centre island near Overport road this afternoon.
ER24 Advanced Life Support paramedic was the first to arrive on the scene and found the man lying in the road on his side. The patient had sustained serious abrasions to his right side of his body and possible head injuries. Analgesic medication had to be given before they could place him on to a specialised piece of equipment to help protect his head and back. The man was transported to Addington Hospital in a serious but stable condition by ambulance.
It is believed that the man came around the corner to join Overport road when he miss judged the island. Unable to move in time, the patient motor bike collided into the island and catapulted the patient into the air and landing on the tar a few meters away.
No one else was injured in this collision.
