Thirteen commuters have been injured after the taxi they were travelling in over turned on Mayors Walk this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side of the island with all the commuters lying on the grass near the accident. Four patients were treated for neck and back injuries and had to be placed onto specialised equipment before they could be moved to the ambulance. The remaining patients including a six month old baby were treated for minor injuries. They were all stabilise on the scene and transported to various hospitals in the area.
It is believed that the taxi driver lost control while taking the corner. The taxi rolled and collided with the light pole, completely ripping the pole out of the ground. The necessary authorities were on the scene and a full investigation would be done into the accident.
