A group of five to six cyclists were cycling on a pass in a Nature Reserve between Meyerton and Heidelburg when a bakkie drove up the road.

One of the cyclists was knocked head on by the bakkie and allegedly flung over the vehicle landing on the back. They drove toward the gate with the twenty nine year old to where they met ER24 paramedics. They man was in a critical condition, having suffered a possible head injury, internal bleeding and a broken left arm.

After being stabilised by Advanced Life Support paramedics on the scene, the man was flown by the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to a Johannesburg hospital for further management.

The driver of the bakkie sustained no physical injuries.
