Woman In Critical Condition After Construction Truck Collison

A twenty three year old woman is in a critical condition after being t-boned by a construction truck in Roodepoort.

The incident occurred at the onramp to the N1 South at Gordon road. It is believed that both vehicles may have been trying to get onto the N1 highway when the collision occurred.

The Opel Corsa that the woman was driving was severely damaged, and the woman was entrapped with critical injuries inside the vehicle. When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they immediately had to perform Advanced Life Support skills on the woman to stabilise her condition.

Fire and Rescue workers had to use the Jaws of Life to cut away at the rear of the vehicle, and the seats, in order to remove her from the vehicle because the truck has so severely entangled in the wreckage. Once the patient was removed, she was transported by road ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was handed over in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the truck reported no injuries on scene.
