Due to the location of the accident on the bend in the road, paramedics first had to secure the scene to ensure the safety of the patient and traffic traveling on the M7.
The patient had been suspended by her safety belt upside down in her car and member of the public had managed to free her and get her out of the vehicle. Paramedics treated the patient for moderate injuries. The driver of the truck escaped without any injuries. The patient was transported to hospital in a stable condition.
It is believed that the woman was about to join the M7 from the Hans Dettam off ramp when she lost control around the corner. RTI were on the scene and would be investigating the accident.
