Drivers Arm Sustains Traumatic Injuries.

A 52yr old man has sustained serious injuries after a passing vehicle side swiped the driver’s door as the man was about to climb out. This incident took place on Victoria road near Chapel street of the busy Pietermaritzburg CBD area this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics from Pietermaritzburg arrived on the scene to find the stationary car’s door ripped open like a tin can. The driver was found seated on the pavement with blood pouring from his right arm. He had suffered severe traumatic injuries to his right arm and possible amputations to two of his fingers. Advanced Life Support Intervention was performed on the man before being rushed to Greys Hospital.

It is believed that the man was about to climb out of his vehicle when a passing motor vehicle side swiped his door as he had opened it. The impact caused the door to rip open taking his arm with him.
The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate further.
