R80 Pretoria: Two Similar Incidents Fourty Five Minutes Apart

The first accident occurred on the R80 at the Ruth First offramp, where a ten ton truck drove under a passenger bus. The three occupants of the truck, despite the massive amount of damage to their vehicle, allegedly told ER24 paramedics on the scene that they saw the bus coming and lifted their legs, thereby preventing injury to themselves. They later refused transportation to hospital as they did not sustain any physical injury. There was also no report of injury to the occupants of the bus. The traffic police were on scene to take statements and regulate traffic.

The second incident occurred near the Bremmer Bridge also on the R80, in Shoshanguve. A Toyota Avanze allegedly drove underneath a truck. The vehicle was substantially damaged, but the male driver believed to be in his thirties, sustained only minor injuries. He was transported by ER24 road ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The occupants of the truck were physically uninjured.
