Eight Year Old Drowns In Bloem

An eight year old boy has drowned in Fichardts Park in Bloemfontein.

He was allegedly playing with his ball when he kicked the ball over the wall into the neighbour's yard. He then climbed over the wall to get his ball when it is believed that he fell into their pool. It is unclear as to how long the child was in the water for before the neighbour's removed him and called ER24 for an ambulance.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, the child had no signs of life, and resuscitation was started.

After desperate attempts on the scene to revive the child were unsuccessful, paramedics loaded the patient into the ambulance and continued resuscitation efforts en route to hospital. At hospital, further attempts provided no results and the child was declared deceased.

The actual cause of this tragic incident will be investigated.
