One guard is in a serious condition while a second has sustained minor to moderate injuries after a cash heist in the Grey Town CBD this morning.
ER24 paramedics from Pietermaritzburg received a call informing them that two security guards had been shot. On arrival they found one of the guards with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and lying in a pool of blood. Advanced Life Support Intervention had to performed on the guard due to his severity of his injuries. The second guard had sustained minor injuries to his face. Both guards were stabilised and transported to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic for further medical care in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed that the guards were outside the vehicle when a the shooting took place. It is unclear if they got away with the money. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident.
