Two people have sustained serious while a two other including a bay have sustained minor to moderate injuries after the car they were travelling in over turned on the N3 Durban bound near Peacevale this afternoon.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find the vehicle lying on its roof in the right hand lane of the freeway resting up against the embankment. All the patients were already out of the vehicle by the time emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Two patients were treated for possible neck and back injuries and for minor lacerations to their heads. The other adult who was holding the baby were examined but neither patients had suffered any visible injuries. All the patients were stabilised on the scene and transported to various hospitals for further medical care.
It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control but is believed that the vehicle may have had mechanical problems before taking the corner. All necessary role players were on the scene and would be investigating the accident.
