A fire broke out this afternoon in a rundown building in the Durban CBD area.
ER24 arrived on the scene to find the Durban Fire Department on scene with Fire Fighters inside the building. A member of public who ran into the building before the authorities arrived was treated for smoke inhalation and was placed on oxygen on the scene. The patient later went to Addington for a further medical check.
It is believed that the rundown building was been occupied by street children. The reason for the fire breaking out is unclear but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident. No other buildings were damaged in this fire.
