Fourteen People Injured When Bakkie Rolls

A bakkie carrying fourteen soccer fans lost control and rolled on the R603 Umbumbulu road near Tala Valley Game Reserve.

It is unclear as to why the incident occurred, but it is suspected that they experienced mechanical problems on the dimly lit road and rolled while on their way home from watching a soccer match.

All fourteen people were ejected from the bakkie, leaving three patients in a critical condition, and had to be intubated by Advanced Life Support Paramedics on scene. Eight other patients sustained serious injuries including broken bones and neck and back injuries, a further three patients sustained minor injuries.

The patients will be taken to Edendale and Northdale Hospitals for further treatment. Paramedics requested back up from the SAPS Search and Rescue squad to comb the area to ensure all patients have been accounted for.

SAPS Camperdown was on scene to investigate.
