Man Shot During Alleged Failed Hijacking

Construction workers were surprised this evening when a Sports Utility Vehicle pulled up to their construction site near the Jean Avenue, N1 highway offramp in Centurion. A panic-stricken man allegedly drove up to the site, where he told the workers that he had been shot and robbed. They quickly phoned ER24 for an ambulance.

As the paramedics arrived on scene, they assessed the man, and found two penetrating wounds to the front left and right side of his stomach. The man was alert and orientated, but in visible pain. The Advanced Life Support Paramedic assisted in stabilizing the patient, before transporting him to Unitas Hospital, where he was handed over in a serious but seemingly stable condition.

The man explained that he had been robbed by an unknown number of armed suspects, who got away with his wallet and cell phone. SAPS arrived on scene, and will be conducting a thorough investigation into the alleged robbery.
