When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene of the accident on the N12 East near the Xavier offramp, they were prepared for the worst. A black BMW was lying on its roof with it's nose facing West, wedged between the middle island barriers.
Paramedics were alerted to a woman still trapped inside the vehicle. Miraculously the woman was alert and orientated, and was hanging upside down, still strapped in the seatbelt. Her neck and back were stabilised while Fire and Rescue workers cut away at the barriers and car door until she was freed from the wreck approximately thirty minutes later. The Advanced Life Support paramedic explained that the thirty year old woman remained calm throughout the entire operation. She was further stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby private hospital.
The woman explained that she had been working through the night and felt unwell in the morning, she then left work on her way home when she allegedly lost control of her vehicle, crashing into the barriers and rolling. Three other cars sustained minor damage behind her, but all of these vehicle occupants remained unharmed.
JMPD was on scene to assist with the early morning traffic flow, and take statements for investigation.
