Suspect Shot in Benoni

It is believed that three suspects were performing a robbery in Benoni when they were disturbed by the CMS private security company. A chase ensued and the suspects were cornered at the intersection on Pretoria and James road.

Two suspects were arrested on the scene by the police, but a third was found to have been injured inside the vehicle. ER24 paramedics were called to the scene to assist. They found the man to be alive, but in a very critical state. They attempted to stabilise him, but due to the severity of his injuries his condition quickly deteriorated. Paramedics then had to start CPR on the man, but he was declared deceased after it was found that he had no signs of life.

He had sustained what looked to be like a fatal gunshot wound to the side of his head, with another wound on the opposite side. It is believed that the wound may have been self inflicted. According to paramedics the man looked to be fairly young, maybe in his early twenties.

Police will be investigating the incident further, and as it is the scene of a crime, no further details could be made available.
