Elderly Woman Critical After Scooter Crashes

It seems that the woman was turning into an estate on the Nova Constantia road in Nova Constantia, when her scooter collided with a car.

According to paramedics on scene the lady was almost in the slip road when the collision occurred, and it seemed that her scooter had been driven over. The sixty three year old woman was semi conscious when ER24 paramedics arrived, and she was disorientated and in severe pain. Paramedics assessed her injuries and immediately requested that she be airlifted due to the severity of the injuries she had sustained. She needed further medical treatment as soon as possible.

She was treated on scene for a possible break to her hips and leg, and paramedics suspected that she may have internal injuries. The also noted that she was a large gaping wound to the back of her left shoulder. The woman was in an extremely critical condition as ER24 and EMTSA paramedics continued to stabilise her until the ER24 Discovery Medicopter landed on the scene.

The woman was airlifted to Vincent Pallotti Hospital where, according to paramedics, she remains in a critical condition while doctors attempt to repair her broken body.
