Breakfast bids farewell to Jeremy

Jeremy Mansfield has announced that he will be relinquishing his role of morning show host of 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s, the Rude Awakening.

Jeremy has presented the Rude Awakening for 13 years

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the show. Management and the Primedia Broadcasting Board have asked me to stay active in other areas of the radio business, which I am looking forward to,” he said.

Jeremy was diagnosed with cancer last year and during his chemotherapy treatment, the rest of the team carried the show very successfully. They now have a tried, tested and proven formula in place to take the show forward.

The show, which broadcasts from 6am to 9am weekdays, will therefore continue with Darren Simpson, Samantha Cowen and the team.

“Jeremy has contributed significantly to developing the team and has personally supported and endorsed this change,” said CEO of Primedia Broadcasting Terry Volkwyn.

“We look forward to working with Jeremy in his new role, and know that the team will build on the wonderful foundation Jeremy was instrumental in laying,” she continued.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Primedia Group, Kuben Pillay, paid a special tribute to Jeremy for his tremendous contribution to radio broadcasting in South Africa, and the success of the 94.7 brand in the Primedia stable.

Jeremy’s final day on air will be Monday, 12 July 2010.
