Taxi Rolls Killing One and Injuring Seven

It appears that a taxi was experiencing mechanical problems when the driver lost control , collided with another vehicle, and then rolled on Frikkie Meyer Boulevard near Delfos Boulevard in Vanderbijlpark this morning.

ER24 paramedics on the scene explained that the taxi was severely damage, and the other vehicle, a sedan was parked on the opposite side of the road. The male driver was transported to hospital for further management of the moderate injuries he had sustained.

A man young was found lying behind the taxi. He was already deceased on the arrival of the emergency services, and paramedics believed that he had been ejected from the taxi when it had rolled, and it then possibly rolled over him, causing multiple traumatic injuries to his body. He appeared to be in his late twenties or early thirties. There was nothing further that paramedics could do to save his life.

Another patient was found on scene to have sustained serious injuries, and was treated for chest injuries and a possible head injury.

Five others were transported to various surrounding hospitals for further treatment. Their injuries ranged from minor abrasions and bumps, to possible back or neck injuries.

The Boulevard heading towards Iscor was closed to traffic while the emergency services were assessing and transporting the patients.
