A security guard at a business in Kempton Park was held for eight hours by a number of robbers after they had broken in to the business at around 23h00 last night.
The robbers allegedly tied the guard up by his hands and feet while they searched the premises. For some unknown reason, they stayed there until they decided it was time to leave in the earlier hours of the morning. The guard, who is in his late twenties, explained to ER24 paramedics that they then began talk of shooting him before they could leave, and an argument broke out because none of them actually wanted to do it.
The argument carried on until it was so heated that the robbers allegedly started shooting at each other. According to the guard, it seemed that wounds had indeed been inflicted, but the severity is unknown as the robbers then quickly fled.
ER24 paramedics transported the guard to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor physical wounds where the restraints had cut into his skin. He was visibly traumatised by the incident, but grateful to still have his life.
The Kempton Park SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating.
