A thirty five year old man is in a serious condition after been knocked down by a light motor vehicle on Town Bush Road in Chase Valley, Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.
Paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene to find the man lying in the road being assisted by members of public who had stopped to help. The patient had sustained a possible neck, head injuries and fractures to his lower extremities.
Advanced Life Support Intervention had to be performed on the patient before he was transported to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed that the man was on his way home from work when he was hit by the light motor vehicle. The impact caused the man to be catapulted into the air and land about 15 meters from his bike. The light motor vehicle did stop on the scene.
