Collision Kills One And Injures Fifteen

One person was killed and another fifteen commuters were seriously injured after a head on collision between a bakkie and a taxi occurred this evening on the Old Main Road near Lotus Park, Isipingo.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the taxi on the opposite side of the road facing the bakkie that had the whole front smashed in. The driver of the bakkie was found entrapped but unfortunately had died of his fatal injuries sustained during the impact. Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other Hydraulic equipment to extricate the deceased from the vehicle.

The remaining commuters were found lying in and around the taxi and had sustained serious injuries. They were stabilised and treated for various injuries before being transported to various hospitals in the greater Durban area for further medical care.
