Head On Collision Leaves One Dead And Three Injured

Two cars collided head on, on Birch road in Benoni, near Meerkat Road.

It is unclear as to who was at fault, but the two vehicles were badly damaged after the collision. There were three people travelling in a Nissan Skyline when it collided with a VW Polo.

The passenger in the Nissan had sustained multiple critical injuries and ER24 paramedics attempted to stabilised the man while he was being cut out of the vehicle. Once he was removed, they had to perform CPR on the man as his injuries were so severe. Unfortunately all attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he was declared deceased on the scene.

The male driver of the Nissan was in a critical condition and paramedics continued their efforts until his condition had stabilised. He seemed to respond very well to the treatment received, and despite having massive facial fractures, chest and abdominal injuries and a severely broken right thigh, paramedics were able to stabilise him and rush him to a medical facility for further medical attention.

A woman was seated in the back on the Nissan at the time of impact, and she came out of the collision with moderate injuries only. The male driver of the Polo was also transported to hospital with moderate injures.
