Seventeen people were injured when a taxi overturned on the M4, between Moore Road and Edwin Swales Road, in Umlazi,.
The incident was witnessed by an ER24 advanced life support paramedic. He explained that he was driving behind the taxi when it appeared as though a wheel of the vehicle came off, this resulted in the taxi overturning and rolling into a barrier.
When he stopped on the scene there were two patients partially trapped under the taxi. With the help of bystanders, the vehicle was lifted slightly and the trapped patients were pulled from beneath the taxi.
The majority of the patients sustained minor to moderate injuries. One patient was in a critical condition and paramedics initiated CPR en route to hospital.
