Emergencies - Easter 2010

ER24 and other private services conducted special operations across the country to promote road and general safety during the 2010 Easter period.

Some of the road safety campaigns included satellite bases at high accident zones along major freeways and suburbs.

Despite the safety campaigns, we have seen an increase in motor vehicle accidents reported to ER24 in 2010, compared to the same period in 2008/9. Other emergencies where an ambulance was required have also increased significantly.

Majority of emergencies reported to ER24 were in the Western Cape, Durban and Johannesburg. An increase in emergency call outs have also been seen in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

A number of emergency categories have spiked compared to the same period in 2008/9.
