A woman has sustained serious injuries after coming off her motor bike on the M7 East bound near the Northdene on ramp this afternoon.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the rider in the right hand lane of the freeway. The patient still had her helmet on and was removed by emergency personnel very carefully, making sure her spine was kept straight. The patient suffered a broken arm and leg. Specialised equipment was placed on the patient while advanced life support intervention was performed. She was stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital in a serious but stable condition for further medical care.
It is unclear what caused the rider to lose control but she did mention that she could not turn the bike when taking the corner. There might have been a mechanical problem with the bike.
