Cape Town - Wet Weather Keeps Emergency Personnel Busy

After attending numerous motor vehicle collisions in the past forty eight hours, it has become obvious that the wet weather is a contributing factor to the amount of incidents occurring.

With the recent consistent rainfall and some occasional heavy down pours many roads have become waterlogged or flooded.

When driving in the rain or on wet roads please remember the following:

Before driving:

1) Ensure that your windscreen wipers are functioning properly.

2) Check that your tyres are correctly inflated and that tyre tread is sufficient.

While driving:

1) Reduce driving speed.

2) Increase your following distance.

3) Keep your headlights on.

4) Be on the look-out for large puddles of water which could result in the vehicle aquaplaning.

Please also be vigilant for emergency service vehicles responding to emergency calls.
