A man to be in his early forties is fighting his life after been struck down by a light motor vehicle just outside 429 Mahatma Gandi Road ( Point Road ) this evening.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man lying in the right hand lane of the road near the pavement with EMRS attending to him. A great mass of members of public started to gather around the scene due to the accident. The man had suffered severe traumatic injuries and advanced life support intervention had to be performed. The man was intubated and placed on a manual ventilator before being transported to Addington Hospital in a critical condition.
It is believed that the man was hit by the car while he was trying to cross the busy road. The impact was so great that the windscreen and roof of the car was damaged. The man was catapulted into the air and landed about 10m from the car.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident.
