Horrific Accident Kills Two

A Volkswagen Polo was allegedly travelling on the R31 approximately ten kilometers from Barkley West in the direction of Kimberly. ER24 paramedics were called to the scene of a single vehicle accident on the dark road which had occurred at around seven in the evening.

It seems that the accident had taken place about half an hour before somebody came across it and called it in, as when paramedics arrived everything appeared to be still. There were a large amount of papers scattered across the scenes, and one paramedic said that they looked like exam question papers. There were also a number of shoes that were found scattered around the scene.

Crews explained that when they arrived they saw the mangled vehicle, and began immediately assessing the five patients that were on the scene. It was extremely dark on the road, and there is dense bush and thorn trees lining either side of the single carriageway.

Two patients had sustained serious injury, and were found semi conscious next to the road. The other three were complaining of multiple pains but after assessment they were treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Police were in attendance and asked one of the lesser injured patients how many occupants there were in the vehicle. He explained that there were seven of them in the vehicle, but paramedics had only found and begun treating five.

Police rescue dogs were brought in to search for the missing two as other attempts to find them were unsuccessful. It took almost an hour before they found the boy, aged nine, stuck in a thorn tree. One of the female paramedics explained that what she saw was horrific, and she was in tears as she declared the lifeless boy, seemingly having broken most of the bones in his body. The other missing vehicle occupant was also found some time later in the dense bush, his clothes and shoes had been ripped off by the severe impact after being ejected from the vehicle. He too was declared deceased, and appeared to have no other physically obvious wounds other than a large, deep cut to his right leg. It is clear that he must have suffered massive internal injuries.

The five other men, in their twenties and early thirties were all stabilised on scene before being transported to a local hospital where they were handed over in a stable condition, and would receive further medical treatment.

At this point it is unclear as to why the vehicle went off the road and suffered such severe devastating carnage where two young people had lost their lives. Whether due to high speed, or mechanical failure of the vehicle, it would need to be investigated by the necessary authorities on the scene. It is also unclear as to whether the deceased's families have been informed of the tragedy.
