A driver and conductor have been seriously injured after the truck carrying goats over turned on the N3 South Bound near the Umlass road this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the truck lying on its side on top of the Armco barrier. The driver and conductor were found outside the vehicle and had sustained serious injuries. Advanced Life Support Intervention had to be performed before they were taken to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic for further medical care.
The truck was carrying goats and somehow lost control and over turned. The problem that emergency personnel are having is that there are over 500 goats, which some of them are entrapped and some have escaped. SPCA has been called in to help assist with the animals.
Motorist are been advised to be carefully in the area due to the accident and for goats running on the freeway.
