Seventeen School children from Petite High School were injured this morning when their taxi and a light motor vehicle collided at the intersection of Geldenhuys and Pretoria road in Benoni.
ER24 paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find the taxi and light motor vehicle involved in the collision. The school children were found either seated still inside the taxi or standing around the accident. The driver of the light motor vehicle was treated for possible neck and back injuries, while the school children sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were all stabilised on the scene and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.
It is unclear who was at fault but is believed that the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
