Man Sustains Serious Injury After His Vehicle Aquaplanes

A sixty six year old man has sustained serious injuries after the vehicle he was travelling in aquaplaned through a stretch of water on Hendrick Potgieter, just before 14th Avenue in Roodepoort.

His vehicle then rolled, coming to rest against a palm tree. The vehicle was severely damaged, and was barely recognisable as an Sports Utility Vehicle.

ER24 paramedics found the man outside of the vehicle, and it is unclear as to whether he climbed out of the wreckage himself or if he was flung out when the vehicle rolled. He sustained a serious wound to his neck, which is believed to have been caused by a thick jewelry chain.

He was transported in a stable but critical condition to hospital where he will receive the appropriate treatment. No other vehicle seemed to be involved in the collision.
