Two men were rescued from a tree surrounded by rapidly flowing water in the Mooirivier, in Potchefstroom.
Members of the SAPS Northwest Diving Unit conducted the rescue and returned the two men to safety. The patients were assessed by paramedics from ER24 and found to have mild hypothermia.
The men declined being taken to hospital. Paramedics commented on how proficiently the SAPS Diving Unit conducted the rescue.
It is actually mind boggling to hear the SAPS did the rescue while the fire dept. have got the equipment and personnel trained in swift water. Or am I missing something
