A bottle store in Vanderbijlpark was allegedly robbed on Tuesday Afternoon, and the suspects almost got away.
According to ER24 paramedics, they were called to the roadside near Emerald Casino where a man had sustained a suspected gun shot wound to the back of his head. The thirty five year old man was lying in the road, complaining of severe pain to his head, but he was fully conscious and alert, even telling paramedics his name and medical history. He was lying near a Volkswagen Golf, whose windows are believed to have been shot out.
It is unclear as to who shot at the man, and it may only be a bullet fragment or a piece of shrapnel that had penetrated the mans skull and not an actual projectile.
ER24 paramedics stabilised the man on scene, administered some medication to take the edge off his pain, and transported him to a nearby State facility for further tests and evaluation. Upon handover, he was still in a stable condition although in obvious pain.
The Vanderbijlpark SAPS was also at the receiving hospital to take further statement for investigation.
