A collision involving a truck and a bakkie has left one person dead and another person in a critical condition. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene just after 6am this morning on the R59 direction Sasolburg to find a truck and bakkie had been involved in a collision. The passenger from the bakkie was already deceased by the time paramedics had arrived. The driver at the time was still entrapped and had suffered severe injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be done to try and save the man’s life. The Jaws of Life was used to free the man from the wreckage. The elderly man was removed from the bakkie and transported to Sasolburg Provincial in a critical condition. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries.
It is unclear how the collision occurred but is believed that the bakkie was joining the R59 and was side swiped by the truck.
The necessary authorities were on scene and will be investigating the accident.
