Paramedics attended to yet another fatal pedestrian accident on the R511 this morning. During the month of August paramedics attended to three fatal pedestrian accidents at this intersection.This morning shortly before 06:00 paramedics received a call for a woman that was knocked down as she got out of a taxi. When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the woman lying in the middle of the road with fatal injuries.
The woman was declared dead on the scene.
It is understood from bystanders that the woman apparently climbed out of a taxi to go to work at the Indaba Hotel where she worked as a waitress. Bystanders explained further that a truck then apparently collided with her and another taxi drove over her. A third vehicle also collided with the woman when she was apparently flung back into the road.
The truck and the taxi was not found on the scene and only the driver of the third vehicle remained on the scene. The driver explained that the woman was suddenly flung right into the road.
ER24 cautions motorists to drive with care especially where commuters make use of taxis or where people cross roads.
The Johannesburg Metro Police attended the scene and will conduct an investigation.
