Two people died after the bakkie they were travelling in was hit by a train while allegedly attempting to cross the railway tracks at a level crossing near Adam Tas Road in Stellenbosch.
The bakkie appeared to have been dragged around four hundred metres before coming to a stop. The deceased needed to be cut from the vehicle by rescue personnel.
Police were in attendance and are investigating the incident.
