Shortly before 09:00 this morning the ER24 Contact Centre was flooded with emergency calls after members of the public witnessed a helicopter crashing to the ground in Ruimsig. 
Paramedics that arrived on the scene found the Robinson helicopter lying in a veld next to Hole-in-One Street.
When paramedics reached the crash site, they found both the pilot and his passenger standing next to the helicopter.
The men fortunately sustained no injuries and refused any medical attention.
It is understood that the helicopter took off from a nearby site and crashed shortly after take-off. It is not clear what caused the crash. The cause of the crash will be investigated by the necessary authorities. The area has since been closed off for public.
