Over nine people have been hospitalised this morning after acollision in two sperate areas involving three taxis and a light motor vehicle. ER24 responded to a collision involving two taxis at the intersection of Leopard and Grey Street just after 6am this morning. Paramedics treated four patients for minor to moderat injuries and were transported to Addington Hospital for further treatment.
While on scene ER24 received another call for yet another taxi accident at the intersection of Ottovolk and Shepstone road. Paramedics rushed to the scene to find a taxi in the centre medium and a light motor vehcile stationary in the bus stop. Five occupants from the taxi were found seated on the pavement. Of the five, one was serious and the other four had minor to moderate injuries. They were stabilised on the scene and transported to various hospitals in the greater Durban area. The occupants of the light motor vehicle were examined but were happy to go see there own doctor if need be.
It is believed that the taxi lost its back wheel, causing the driver to lose control and went through the intersection and collided into the back of the light motor vehcile.
Metro police will be investigating both accidents.
