Durban ( Marringhill ) Old Richmond road at 19h45 on the 15 September 09

A policeman and a member of public have been injured this evening in a collision involving three cars. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, to find the three vehicles in the far left hand lane of the road. Paramedics found the policeman seated on the floor and in severe pain. He had suffered a possible fracture to his leg and had to be stabilised on the scene before they could move him.

A member of public from one of the light motor vehicles had suffered possible neck and back injuries. Both patients were transported to Life Entabeni Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed that the police vehicle was rear ended, when the officer climbed out to examine the damage, a third vehicle collided into the back of the second, the impact caused the vehicle to go forward and caught the policeman's leg between the two bumpers. He was fortuante the the two bumpers did not interlink and he was able to free his leg.

It is believed that this collision occured due to wet roads and poor visibility.
