A collision between a Mercedes and a VW Jetta on the N7, about three kilometres past the Melkbos turn off in the direction of Malmesbury, resulted in five people being injured.
Two patients sustained serious injuries and three patients sustained minor to moderate injuries, the patients were transported to New Somerset Hospital by ER24 and Metro EMS ambulances.
Rescue crews had their skills tested extricating a patient from the wreckage of one of the vehicles.
The N7 was closed in both directions while emergency services worked on scene.
