Man Shot After Nature's Call

The driver of a truck carrying a heavy container was driving away from Witbank towards Pretoria when he had an urgently call of nature. He subsequently pulled over on the N4 and walked a few meters away from the road into the longer grass. When he turned around to continue on his journey, an unknown number of men approached him.

It seems that the men's aim was to hijack the man, but after a short while, it seems that they had a change of plan and rather shot at the fourty five year old man and then ran off. At this stage it is unclear as to whether he was robbed of any personal belonging, but it seems that he was not further assaulted by the men.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they assessed the man and found that he had sustained a wound to his stomach as well as his left hand. He was though in a stable condition, and paramedics put up a drip for replacement of possible blood loss. They then transported him to a nearby private hospital where he remained in a stable condition upon handover to hospital staff.

The Witbank SAP were on the scene, and it seems that a possible suspect has already been detained by them for further questioning.
