A 45yr old man has been killed while working on a broken down truck on the R56 near the Umkomas valley this afternoon.
ER24 and EMRS arrived on the scene to find two trucks involved in a collision. The patient was found lying on the road after been placed there by fellow workers. Emergency personnel assessed the patient but was declared deceased due to the traumatic chest injuries he had sustained.
It is believed that the patient who is a mechanic was seated near the engine while the cabin compartment of the broken down truck was up. A second truck slammed into the back of the truck causing the cabin to close on the man on impact.
All necessary authorities were on scene and a investigation would be done into the accident. No other injuries were reported on the scene.
