A driver is in a serious condition while three other people have sustained minor injuries after a head on collision that took place yesterday evening at the corners of New Grey Town and Allendale road.
Er24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a bakkie and a light motor vehicle involved in a collision, which were still in the middle of the road. The driver of the light motor vehicle was found entrapped behind the wheel of his car. He had sustained serious injuries and needed Advanced Life Support intervention. While paramedics were busy with the patient, the local Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate him from the vehicle. The patient was placed on specialised equipment before taking him out of the vehicle. The three occupants from the bakkie had sustained minor to moderate injuries. All the patients were transported to Northdale Hospital for further medical care.
It is unclear who was at fault but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
