One person has died and fourteen people, including children, have been injured in a collision involving a VW Caddy, VW Kombi and a truck on the N7 approximately ten kilometres before Malmesbury from Cape Town.
The driver of the Caddy was dead on arrival of emergency services and was trapped in the vehicle. The driver of the Kombi was also trapped and was extricated by rescuers from Metro Rescue and the Fire Department.
Of the fourteen patients on the scene, one person sustained serious injuries, four people sustained moderate injuries and nine people sustained minor injuries. The patients were taken to various surrounding hospitals for further treatment.
It was unclear to paramedics on the scene how the collision occurred but police are investigating the incident.
