Durban ( Berea ) N3 Outgoing near Botanical Gardens Bridge at 17H30 on the 1 October 09

Evening traffic moving out of Durban was severely affected after a sudden down poor created a large pool of water, to form in the fast lane on the N3 out going just before Botanical Gardens road.

It is believed, the driver of the taxi severed to avoid the water striking a light motor vehicle and over turning. The taxi came to rest on its side in the pool of water. This resulted in the taxi partly filling with water. The passengers who all sustained minor injuries managed to escape the vehicle and wade through the water to safety. They were examined further and transported to Life Entabeni and other surrounding hospitals for furhter medical treatment.

The driver of the light motor vehicle who was examined was found not to be injured in the accident.

Traffic was severely affected as only two lanes leaving Durban areawas open to motorist.
