Durban ( Inanda ) M25 Durban Bound near the Inanda SAPS station at 14h25 on the 1 September 09

Two pedestrians are dead after been struck by a light motor vehicle this afternoon. It is alleged that the two were crossing the M25 in Inanda when the incident occurred. When ER24 paramedics arrived, they discovered the two patients in a small side road surrounded by members of the community. Both patients were pronounced deceased with multiple fatal injuries.

It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle came around a gentle bend in the road and struck the pedestrians, dragging them a short distance before they tumbled on to the side road. The driver then regained control of his vehicle which was by now across the medium in on coming traffic. The vehicle came to a halt approximately 100m down the road. There was extensive damaged to the front of the vehicle.

The patients have yet to be identified. SAPS and RTI will question the driver and are investigating the accident.

DIEPSLOOT [ Johannesburg ] 01 September 2009 at 09:00

At least 22 people were injured this morning when a bakkie and a taxi collided with each other at the R511 and N14 intersection in Diepsloot.

When paramedics arrived on the scene the taxi was still lying on its roof and they found people around the taxi ranging with minor to moderate injuries.

20 of the injured were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical management.

It is understood that one of the vehicles might have skipped a red traffic light. The Johannesburg Metro Police attended the incident.

The driver of the taxi was not injured in this collision.

BLOUBOSRAND [ Johannesburg North] 1 September 2009 at 04:30

Four suspects were shot this morning in what is believed to have been a shootout between Police, Armed Security Forces and suspected robbers.

Shortly before 05:00 this morning, paramedics from ER24 were rushed to the scene in Bloubosrand near Witkoppen Drive where they found two suspects in a critical condition and another two fatally wounded.

Paramedics had to stabilize the two men that were critically wounded before rushing them off to a nearby Johannesburg Hospital under Police guard.

The other two suspects were declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

It is understood that the shootout occurred after the suspects attempted to enter a security complex.

The Police are on the scene and will be investigating.

Pietermaritzburg ( Central ) Municipal Building at 13h30 on the 31 August 09

Three members of public have been treated this afternoon after been trapped inside a lift for over an hour. ER24 paramedics and the local Fire Department were called out to the local Municipal building in Church Street for three people trapped inside the lift. Paramedics and FireDepartment ensured the patients to remain calm.

A technician from the lift company was also called in to help in the rescue. The Fire Department was able to pry open the doors and all three patients were rescued.

Two females and a male were assessed on the scene and were treated for claustrophobia and other medical conditions. They were transported to a near by Provincial hospital for further treatment.

It is unclear what caused the lift to get jammed but an investigation will be done by the relevant authorities.

Pietermaritzburg ( Central ) CNR of Berg and Retief Street at 14h45 on the 31 August 09

A 55yr old woman has been stabbed this afternoon by an apparent deranged man at the corners of Berg andRetief street in Pitermaritzburg. When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the woman seated on the side of the road with a single stab wound to her body.

ER24 were able to stabilise the patient and were about to leave when the patient refused further treatment and opted to rather consult her traditional healer. Paramedics pleaded with the patient to go too hospital for further treatment as they were not sure if the stabbing had damaged any vital organs. Patient refused any further treament from the paramedics and left the scene to find her traditional healer.

it is believed that the suspect, who may have been mentally ill, ran up to the woman who was walking with her friend and stabbed her once before running away.

SAPS are at present still looking for the suspect

Soweto [Orlando East] on 30 August 2009 at 15h00

An alleged armed robbery at a shop in Orlando East, resulted in four suspects being killed and another two suspects being apprehended by the Metro Police this afternoon.

Three suspects were dead on arrival of emergency services and another one was declared dead after an advanced life support resuscitation by paramedics.

One other suspect was taken under police guard by an ambulance to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound in a stable condition. A sixth suspect sustained minor injuries and was arrested by police.

It is alleged that the police returned fire after the suspects started shooting at them, no other injuries were reported from the scene.

Southern Cape [Glentana Bay] on 29 August 2009 at 15h15

A man, believed to be twenty five years old, was allegedly attacked by a shark while surfing at Glentana Bay this afternoon.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, the patient had been pulled out the water by the public and they were performing CPR.

The patient sustained an amputation of the right lower leg, which a quick thinking member of the public had already applied a tourniquet to. Paramedics continued with CPR and an advanced life support resuscitation was carried out.

A Red Cross Air Mercy Service helicopter was called in to transport the patient to George Provincial Hospital in a critical condition.

Resuscitation efforts continued at the hospital but unfortunately the man was later declared dead.

Cape Town - Rhodes Drive on 29 August 2009 at 07h55

Three people were injured when a truck overturned on Rhodes drive between Hout Bay and Kirstenbosch this morning.

One of the patients was trapped in the truck and needed to be extricated by rescue crews from Metro Rescue and the Fire Department, a rescue crane was also used to assist in the rescue operations.
The trapped person, as well as two other people from the truck, all sustained moderate injuries and were taken by ambulances to Victoria Hospital.

It is unclear at this stage as to what caused the truck to overturn. Rhodes Drive in both directions was closed while emergency services worked on the scene.

Cape Town [Plattekloof] N1 on 27 August 2009 at 18h15




Three people, including a pedestrian, were injured on the N1 in the direction of Cape Town, just before the Plattekloof Bridge.




Two of the people injured were in a Toyota Corolla which rolled when it allegedly attempted to avoid hitting a pedestrian crossing the road.




The female driver was ejected from the vehicle and was in a serious but stable condition. A six year old girl was also in the vehicle but was not ejected, she was in a moderate condition. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was in a stable condition.




The patients were taken to various nearby hospitals for further treatment. Two of the three lanes were closed while emergency crews worked on scene.

Cape Town [Killarney] Potsdam Road on 27 August 2009 at 08h00


A collision between a taxi and a car on Potsdam Road in Killarney this morning left nine people injured.


Of the nine injured, eight sustained minor injuries and one sustained moderate injuries. The patients were taken by ambulances to various surrounding hospitals for further treatment.


It is unclear what the cause of the collision was but police were in attendance and are investigating the incident.
